What is halal?

Halal means “permissible” under Islamic law. Halal meat is prepared in a specific way in compliance with Islamic dietary requirements for consumption. Although halal meat can be slightly more expensive, it is valued for its careful preparation, quality, and delicious taste.

At Fremont Afghan Kabob, our entire menu is 100% halal, so you can confidently enjoy any dish at all our restaurant locations.

What Does It Mean for Food to Be Halal?

Halal meat comes from an approved animal that has been slaughtered according to specific Islamic dietary requirements. The process uses a very sharp blade to make a swift cut intended to minimize the animal’s pain and suffering. The animal’s blood is then thoroughly drained, and the person performing the slaughter invokes the name of Allah, offers thanks, and asks for the animal to be blessed.

This careful method of preparation has been practiced for centuries. Halal food cannot contain pork, alcohol, blood, or other prohibited ingredients. Fremont Kabob is proud to stand by our cultural standards by keeping halal meat separate from non-halal proteins with a 100% halal menu.

Islamic Law

Is All Meat Halal?

No. Beef, chicken, and lamb may come from animals that are permitted in Islam, but the meat is only considered halal when it has been slaughtered, handled, and prepared according to halal requirements. A dish is not automatically halal simply because it does not contain pork.

Some restaurants serve both halal and non-halal proteins or offer only a small number of halal dishes. In those kitchens, guests may need to ask questions about ingredients, shared cooking surfaces, and food-handling practices before ordering.

At Fremont Afghan Kabob, our fully halal menu makes the decision simple: every dish is prepared without non-halal meat or prohibited ingredients.
