We love that Fremont has so many great places for Afghan food. If you like kabobs, this is a nice place to bring your family.

We recently dined here around 5:30pm on a Saturday. The restaurant was not crowded. There were only three other parties at the time. There was also ample parking.

Our first dish was the Borani Gadinjon ($8.99), which is eggplant in a garlic, tomato and oil based sauce. It was good, especially when paired with the free bread that accompanies each meal.

We ordered one Chicken Kabob plate ($18.99). The meat was really tender and juicy and had great flavor. We substituted the rice for salad at no charge, making it a much healthier dish.

For an extra $7, you can order the Sultani Kabob ($25.99), which comes with an additional skewer. We ordered two chicken and one beef skewer. The beef, which was tri-tip, was very tender and not dry.

There are many good options for Afghan food in Fremont. It's hard to tell the difference between them. The prices are comparable, and the food is very similar. The service level is comparable between the different establishments, too. Fremont Afghan does have a quieter dining area than some of the others. But we do notice that the size of the chicken pieces is smaller than the to go place near Fremont and Peralta.

My friend and I dined at Fremont Kabob on a weekday afternoon. It's located in a strip mall, and parking at this time of day was easy and plentiful. The restaurant was empty except for one other party, and we chose to sit in the lounge seating area, which features traditional Afghan seating that is low to the ground, casual, and unique--perfect for a date.

The menu offered a wide variety of food, including vegetarian dishes. We enjoyed the chicken kabob, which came with rice and cucumber salad, and the eggplant, which also came with rice. Both were served with Afghan bread. As an appetizer, we ordered the potato Bolani, which was stuffed with potato and leek. It was also good, although slightly greasy. It's important to note that, presumably for religious reasons, they don't serve alcohol.

The restaurant ambiance was peaceful and the service was good. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience.

One suggestion that might help bring in more lunchtime customers would be to offer lunch specials. We noticed a page in the menu that said "Lunch Specials Coming Soon," so perhaps that's already in the works.

Food is absolutely delicious! Service is the best! Friendly and very descriptive when you ask what's in dishes. We've been here three times and I always order the picture on the front of the menu. It's flavored rice with all the different meats 10/10!! I didn't know until I dug into the rice that there's a whole lamb shank under the rice that is fall off the bone!! Super tasty and incredibly light!!. I wish I remembered the names of the meals but we also always get the flat tortilla like bread that has potatoe inside- it's served with a dip OMG 10/10! The hummus is fresh and we dip the bread they give when you're first seated into the hummus omg I'm drooling just talking about it ! I definitely will be going there this weekend to take my daughter so she can experience the feed there! They have two sections, one is seated regular American style dinner seating and to the left as you walk in is seating on the ground with cushions (we love this seating better) and you just feel the entire experience. Got the mixed platter here (all the meats) and it did not disappoint. Everything had its own seasoning going on, not just the same kabob three times over. Super tender, nothing dry or overcooked. Rice was great, bread was warm and soft. Big portions for the price too. We stay coming back especially with the family. One of my new favorite Afghani restaurants. Everything was amazing. I love their vinegar based sauces. Love their kabobs. Probably some of the best I have ever tasted in over a decade.
